Your Diabetes Coach
continues to pray for those whose lives have been disrupted by the
many tropical systems that have plagued our Gulf Coast region for
the last two years. With the many people in Florida still
trying to recover from the four hurricanes last year and Hurricane
Dennis in July of this, and now part of that same area again touched
by Hurricane Katrina as she devastated the coastal regions of
Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana effectively wiping New Orleans
from the map, there are massive numbers of individuals in great
need. The economy in southern Alabama has already been
suffering the last few years as a number of manufacturing jobs have
moved south of the border leaving many jobless and in poverty
already.
I myself have been unemployed since April
with few prospects in sight for that to change. As I
face even more months of a continued job search, I have the
sincere wish to in some way assist those in greater need.
Therefore, I am making you aware of a way you can help,
too.
Many of you know that I am a Shaklee
Independent Distributor. I became a distributor primarily
to purchase my own products at wholesale prices. Because
of the level of adherence to science and the insistance on
excellence in quality control that Shaklee maintains, I have come to
trust the Shaklee products implicitly.
One of the line of products that Shaklee
makes are household cleaners that work effectively, yet
safely. One way you can help me to help many of these
storm victims is to purchase a Disaster Relief Kit from
Shaklee. The kit* includes 1 gallon of concentrated general
cleaner, 1 gallon of concentrated germicide, a concentrated
scrubbing cleanser, and a concentrated liquid cleanser as well
as sponges, miracle scrub pads, and spray bottles in which to mix
the solutions. To donate one of these, call 1-800-SHAKLEE
between 7AM and 7PM (your local time). When ask for your
member number, give the number XE93263DS. When asked for the
item number, it is 80936. The cost for one kit is
$93.55. That one kit will clean and "de-germ" at least
one entire "really dirty" house, maybe even two!
We have organized a way for all of our Shaklee
Members to provide much needed supplies and assistance to the
victims of this disaster through our nonprofit charitable
organization, Shaklee Cares®. Originally established in 1992 in the
aftermath of Hurricane Andrew, Shaklee Cares is a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization dedicated to individuals, families, and
communities recovering from natural disasters. Since its inception
in 1992, Shaklee Cares has donated more than $2.5 million in cash
and products to those in need.
Here is a brief summary of what Shaklee Cares is
doing now:
> Established the Shaklee Cares Hurricane
Relief Pack (#80936) which anyone may purchase and donate through
September 14 (non-Shaklee Members, please call 1-800-SHAKLEE to
donate). I am proud to say that over 2,000 kits have been donated
by our Shaklee Family in just one week.
> Shaklee Cares is also accepting cash
donations which will be distributed to those in need of financial
assistance. Shaklee Corporation will match the first
$100,000 in cash donations to victims of this
disaster.
> Shaklee has begun an outreach effort to all
members of our Shaklee Family, to try to locate and assess how we
can help those in Shaklee who have been impacted by this event.
Distributors whose businesses and homes have been destroyed will
be supported with donations from the Field and the
Company.
